Walter Mirisch, executive producer of the original Pink Panther that launched the enduring series, will serve as an executive producer alongside Ryan Halprin of Rideback.

The Pink Panther franchise, known for its comical escapades featuring the inept Inspector Clouseau and the cartoon character Pink Panther, will take a unique turn in this new project. While plot details are under wraps, sources reveal that the story will center on a suave inspector who, following a traumatic event, now interacts with a pink panther as an imaginary friend. Although the panther doesn’t speak, it becomes an instrumental ally in solving the case.

This ambitious project, a fusion of the beloved Pink Panther concepts, has been in development since the beginning of the year, navigating rights complexities and seeking the right approach. The creative team aims to bring the well-loved franchise back to the big screen in a way that will captivate both longtime fans and new generations.

Michael De Luca, Chairman of MGM Film Group, and Pamela Abdy, President of MGM Film Group, expressed their excitement about reviving the iconic Pink Panther legacy. They stated, “Popular the world over, the legacy of the iconic Pink Panther has endured for more than 50 years and continues to be discovered by new generations.”

Jeff Fowler, who made his feature directorial debut with the successful ‘Sonic the Hedgehog,’ and Chris Bremner, the co-writer behind the top-grossing ‘Bad Boys for Life,’ bring a fresh perspective to this classic franchise. The Pink Panther project promises to be a delightful and inventive addition to MGM’s cinematic lineup.

Released earlier this year, ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ grossed over $306 million worldwide, marking Fowler’s successful entry into feature filmmaking. Chris Bremner, with the accolade of co-writing the highest-grossing movie of 2020, ‘Bad Boys for Life,’ continues to be a sought-after writer for major studio franchises, including projects for Paramount, Disney, and Sony.

As this dynamic creative team comes together to reimagine the Pink Panther universe, audiences can anticipate a film that pays homage to the series’ legacy while introducing a captivating and imaginative twist.
